Ana Isabel Salgueiro Trincão

Ana Trincão is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher, specializing in contemporary dance, visual arts, performance, and somatics. She holds a PhD in Cultural Studies from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (2015–2021), where she developed the research project Poetics as Politics: Performative Practice and the Spectator.

She also completed a Master's in Solo, Dance, and Authorship at the Berlin University of the Arts (UDK, 2010–2012), where she investigated the relationship between body and sound in Making the Invisible Visible. She also holds a degree in Plastic Arts from ESAD das Caldas da Rainha (1999–2005) and is currently pursuing a specialization in Somatic Movement Education (SME).

Ana researches somatic practices in dance and the performative arts, leading workshops and laboratories on conscious movement, internal body perception, and body-mind integration. As a choreographer, she creates works addressing themes like identity and collectivity through performance, video, and installation. Her most recent projects include Mudjeres Di Mondon (2024) and BlindDances (2024), both dedicated to exploring social and political structures through sensory and bodily approaches. In addition to her performative work, she is part of the experimental music project SAS Radio Orkestra and the artist collective Apneia Colectiva.

Her artistic practice fluidly moves between individual projects and collective collaborations, exploring new forms of dialogue with history, identity, and embodied knowledge.
